Giodo

Consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini began his own Giodo estate in Montalcino in 2002 after selecting a site for a family wine project. The name combines his parents’ given names, Giovanna and Donatello, anchoring the brand in family history rather than a geographic designation. The property has grown to about six hectares of Sangiovese vines used for Brunello and related Tuscan wines.

Carlo’s daughter Bianca is involved in the estate, representing the next generation while Carlo remains central to the project’s direction. Giodo also has a separate Sicilian project, but its Etna wines are kept geographically distinct from the Montalcino estate. Giodo now spans Carlo Ferrini’s Sangiovese estate in Montalcino and a separate Nerello Mascalese project on Etna.
