AboutFoppiano Vineyards
Foppiano Vineyards traces its Russian River Valley estate to 1896, when Giovanni Foppiano purchased Riverside Farm south of Healdsburg and established the Foppiano Wine Company. During Prohibition the ranch survived by growing grapes and orchard fruit, although a 1926 federal raid sent a large volume of wine into a nearby creek. By 1937 the company was bottling under its own name.
The estate’s warmer benchlands favour Petite Sirah and Zinfandel, while cooler blocks nearer the Russian River are reserved for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Foppiano introduced its first Petite Sirah in 1967 and later hosted a symposium devoted to the grape.

The palate is round and full, with red cherry, nutmeg and cedar, supple tannins, lively acidity and a long spicy finish. Made from Petite Sirah grown in California’s Sonoma County, the wine is full-bodied yet smooth and contains thirteen point nine percent alcohol.
