AboutFontodi
The Manetti family acquired Fontodi in 1968 and has since developed the estate in Panzano’s Conca d’Oro within Chianti Classico. The family also has a long history of terracotta production. Fontodi manages a large, contiguous property with roughly seventy hectares of vines within a wider mixed agricultural estate.
Sangiovese is the principal grape, alongside smaller plantings of other varieties. Organic farming is part of the estate’s broader sustainability and closed-cycle agricultural practices.
Fontodi 2017 Flaccianello della Pieve
Italian Red
Dark cherry and plum lead, followed by violet, liquorice and a touch of clove. This all-Sangiovese Tuscan red fills the palate without losing its shape, with fine tannins supporting the generous fruit. Cranberry and blueberry carry into the lingering finish. The 2017 is a broad, richly textured expression of Flaccianello della Pieve.
