Fattoria dei Barbi belongs to the Colombini family, whose documented connection to Montalcino dates to 1352. Pio Colombini made the family’s first bottles of Brunello; his descendant Giovanni later took its wines abroad, sold by mail order and opened a wine shop in Montalcino’s fortress.
The family opened the Barbi cellars to visitors in the 1950s, an early step in Italian wine tourism. Francesca Colombini and then Stefano Cinelli Colombini took over after Giovanni, continuing to develop the estate.

Brilliant ruby in the glass, with ripe strawberry and raspberry framed by lightly smoked spice, anise, heather and white pepper. The palate is broad and structured, carrying generous red fruit through firm, youthful tannins and a long, composed finish. Decant before serving with grilled red meat, venison, wild boar or mature cheese.
