AboutFamille Joly
The Joly family owns the Coulée de Serrant, a seven-hectare Loire vineyard whose monastic winegrowing history is traditionally dated to 1130. Nicolas Joly returned to take charge in 1976, then began exploring biodynamics in 1980 before converting the entire estate by 1984.
His books and advocacy helped bring biodynamic winegrowing to an international audience. The family’s Chenin Blanc wines are fermented with native yeasts and aged in used wood, with cellar intervention kept to a minimum.

Bruised apple and ripe pear open with ginger, coriander and a savoury hint of hay. The palate is dry, rich and layered, combining orchard fruit with honeycomb, beeswax and saline minerality. Nutty depth, baking spice and a light waxy texture carry through the long, distinctive finish.
