AboutEl Enemigo

El Enemigo is an Argentine wine project created by winemaker Alejandro Vigil with Adrianna Catena in Mendoza. The partners began the label around 2009, combining Vigil’s technical experience with Catena’s family and historical perspective on Argentine wine. The winery works with vineyards in several Mendoza districts, including high-elevation sites in the Uco Valley and traditional areas nearer the city.

Cabernet Franc has a prominent role, while Malbec, Bonarda, Chardonnay and other grapes appear in separate wines and site expressions. Vineyard sources and cellar choices differ across the portfolio, so no single product sheet is treated as a universal house method. El Enemigo remains the Mendoza partnership of Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena, with Cabernet Franc and Bonarda central to its range.

El Enemigo 2022 Cabernet Franc

Argentinian Red
$49.99
Cassis, ripe currant and raspberry lead, with violet, cedar, clove, eucalyptus and black pepper adding lift. The palate is fresh and elegant, combining juicy red fruit, velvety tannins and a mineral line through a persistent finish. Give it a brief decant and serve with grilled game, roast lamb or charred vegetables.

Gran Enemigo 2017 Gualtallary Cabernet Franc

Argentinian Red
$129.99
Blackberry and black cherry lead with violet, thyme and eucalyptus. The palate is concentrated yet energetic, layering red plum and juicy cherry over chalky tannins and lively acidity. Sweet spice, black pepper and a subtle leafy note add savoury definition without hardening the fruit. The finish is long and mineral, leaving graphite, herbs, dark fruit and finely drawn tannin.

El Enemigo 2023 Chardonnay

Argentinian White
$54.99
Salted lemon, sliced apple and a stony, seashell-like mineral note open with a discreet touch of oak spice. The palate is full-bodied yet tense, bringing richness into focus through bright acidity and a lightly saline texture. Toasty and subtly honeyed details add complexity without softening the line. Long, dry and refreshing, it suits roast poultry, richer seafood or mushroom dishes.

El Enemigo 2022 Malbec Mendoza

Argentinian Red
$56.99
A concentrated Malbec built around black plum, blackberry and black cherry, with violet, graphite and wild-herb detail bringing a savoury edge. A small portion of Cabernet Franc adds lift and structure. The palate is medium to full-bodied, dense yet fresh, with chalky tannins, finely judged oak and a persistent mineral finish. Decanting will let the darker fruit and aromatic detail open fully.
