AboutEchlinville Distillery
Echlinville Distillery revived Dunville’s in the early 2010s on County Down’s Ards Peninsula, bringing back a whiskey name whose Belfast history began in 1808. The original wine-and-spirits partnership of William Napier and John Dumvill grew into Dunville & Co., opening the Royal Irish Distilleries in 1869 before the business closed in 1936. The modern Dunville’s range is known for its cask finishes, particularly Pedro Ximénez and other sherry casks.
Dunville’s PX 12 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey 700 mL
Fresh green apple and orchard fruit open the palate with clarity, followed by raisins, figs and stewed dates from the Pedro Ximenez cask finish. Sweet malt and marzipan sponge cake add a soft, rounded centre, while candied orange provides a bright counterpoint. Bottled at 46% after at least twelve years of maturation, it balances sherry richness with lively fruit and measured spice. The finish is warming, persistent and cleanly defined.
