East Vancouver Brewing Company opened on Venables Street in November 2017, five years after its name was registered. Its tasting room occupies a former industrial building in East Van’s brewing district. Its tap list combines a steady core with rotating seasonal beers, leaving room for lagers, hop-led ales and darker styles.
Unholy One Nitro Stout earned gold in the oatmeal stout category at the 2021 Canadian Brewing Awards, followed by national medals for the brewery’s porter and honey brown ale in 2022.

Roasted coffee and dark chocolate set the tone, with fresh bread and deep caramel adding warmth beneath the darker malt. The nitro presentation gives the palate a smooth, rich and creamy shape, keeping the roast composed rather than sharp. The finish remains dark and rounded. Serve cold with beef stew, oysters, roast mushrooms, chocolate cake or aged cheddar.
