David Stare founded Dry Creek Vineyard in 1972, opening the first new winery in the Dry Creek Valley after Prohibition. Sauvignon Blanc was among his early plantings and remains a focus, alongside Zinfandel and Bordeaux varieties. The winery remains family owned under the second generation, led by Kim Stare Wallace with Don Wallace alongside her.
The estate vineyards cover 185 acres across sites with varied soils and exposures. The winery and estate vineyards are certified sustainable, with work on water conservation and wildlife habitat.
Dry Creek Vineyard 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
American Red
Black cherry, black currant and dried cranberry open, followed by raspberry and fresh boysenberry. The palate is full-bodied and rich, with ripe dark fruit framed by refined tannins and bright natural acidity. Cocoa, bay leaf, sage and sweet tobacco add savoury depth, while white pepper and cedar bring lift. Layered and composed, it finishes long with currant, spice and a persistent herbal note.
