AboutDomaine Res Fortes
Dutch-born winemaker Moritz Bak completed wine-science studies at Plumpton College in 2010 before working in cellars across both hemispheres. He released his first wines in 2014 and, four years later, bought a fourteen-hectare vineyard and winery near Maury, establishing a permanent home for Res Fortes in Roussillon.
The domaine works old vines on schist-rich hillsides in the dry Catalan landscape of southern France. Bak makes wines from traditional Roussillon varieties as well as bottlings under the broader Vin de France designation.

French Red
Cranberry, raspberry, red cherry and currant appear in a fresh-fruited red made entirely from Merlot. The vines are forty to sixty years old, planted on schist on a south-facing slope without irrigation. Grapes were harvested on October first, destemmed and fermented whole with twice-daily pump-overs. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel and remained in tank until bottling.
