AboutDomaine Prieuré Roch
Henry-Frédéric Roch founded Domaine Prieuré Roch in 1988; the Côte d’Or estate now covers about twenty hectares. Yannick Champ, Roch’s long-time collaborator, now co-directs the domaine with its established team. It owns three vineyards in their entirety: Clos des Corvées in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Clos des Varoilles in Gevrey-Chambertin and Clos Goillotte in Vosne-Romanée.
Biodynamic principles guide vineyard work, and synthetic treatments are avoided. Whole-bunch fermentation, with the stems retained, is central to the cellar’s approach, which also avoids adding sulphur.
Domaine Prieuré Roch 2023 Vosne-Romanée Le Clos Goillotte Monopole
Luminous wild strawberry and red cherry lead, with rose petal, dried herbs and a subtle earthy depth. Whole-bunch fermentation gives the aromatics lift and a finely stemmed savoury edge, while silky tannins and fresh acidity carry a persistent mineral finish. Biodynamic farming and vinification without added sulphites keep the expression direct and detailed. This is delicate rather than light; serve with roast quail, duck, mushrooms or a simple veal dish.
