AboutDomaine Mouton Père et Fils
Jean-Claude and Bryan Mouton work together at their family’s estate in Condrieu. Jean-Claude joined his father, André, in 1989; Bryan followed in 2020.
The estate covers about nine hectares, with Viognier in Condrieu and Syrah in Côte-Rôtie at the heart of its range. Around Condrieu, the vines grow on steep terraces where much of the work is done by hand. The property holds France’s High Environmental Value (HVE) certification.
Domaine Mouton Père et Fils 2015 Côte-Rôtie Maison Rouge
French Red
Violet and iris lift raspberry and dark fruit, with pepper, wild herbs and a touch of coffee adding savoury detail. Maison Rouge shows the ripe character of 2015 in a supple, finely drawn Côte-Rôtie rather than a heavy frame. Its graceful texture and measured spice suit duck, braised beef or roast mushrooms; mature-bottle condition will shape the final expression.
