Michèle and Patrice Rion created their own Côte de Nuits estate in 1990 while Patrice was still working at Domaine Daniel Rion. In 2000 they completed a purpose-built winery and expanded the independent business. Their son Maxime joined in 2005 after studies in viticulture and oenology, adding a new generation to the family project.

The domaine is based at Prémeaux-Prissey near Nuits-Saint-Georges and works Pinot Noir and smaller Chardonnay holdings across several Côte de Nuits appellations. It also vinifies fruit from partner growers, a scope kept separate from the estate’s own vineyard area. The domaine’s current work connects its 1990 start, the new winery and a continuing family base in Burgundy.

Rion 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges

French Red
$129.99
Cherry and blackcurrant lead the aroma, followed by truffle, forest floor, pepper and a cool eucalyptus note. The palate has the firm shape associated with Nuits-Saint-Georges, but the tannins remain polished and well integrated. Fresh acidity carries the dark fruit into a savoury, persistent finish with spice and earthy detail.
