Domaine Georges Vernay
AboutDomaine Georges Vernay
Francis Vernay established the domaine at Condrieu in 1937 and planted the family’s first vines on the Coteau de Vernon. His son Georges became a determined defender of Condrieu and Viognier when both vineyard and appellation were close to disappearing. Christine Vernay succeeded her father in 1996, and her daughter Emma joined the domaine in 2020 to learn the vineyards alongside her.
The estate spans twenty-four hectares, including seventeen on steep slopes, with holdings in Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie and Saint-Joseph as well as IGP vineyards. All the wines are made from the domaine’s own grapes, and its vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic.

Dark cherry, damson plum and blackberry meet violet, white pepper and a light smoky note. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with pure fruit carried by vibrant acidity and soft, discreet tannins. Sanguine minerality and a savoury olive edge lead into a persistent, focused and quietly spicy finish.
