AboutDomaine Fouassier

The Fouassier family has grown vines in Sancerre for ten generations. Pierre Fouassier began shaping the present domaine in 1966, joined by Jean-Michel in 1971 as the family expanded its vineyard work. Benoît entered the domaine in 2000 and Paul in 2001; together they represent the current generation at the estate.

The family farms about sixty hectares across Sancerre, planted mainly to Sauvignon Blanc. The domaine is certified biodynamic by Biodyvin and Demeter.

Domaine Fouassier 2013 Sancerre Les Romains 375 mL

French White
$23.99

Pear, chalk and ripe fruit characterize this white wine, with a lively mineral profile and a lemon-toned finish. Sauvignon Blanc grows on southwest-facing clay-and-flint slopes formed over Upper Cretaceous geology. The palate combines saline liveliness with a rounder, fuller close. Oyster preparations, creamy dishes, curries and seafood are listed among the pairings, with service around twelve degrees Celsius.
