Domaine de Majas
AboutDomaine de Majas
Agnès and Alain Carrère tend Domaine de Majas in the Fenouillèdes, where the eastern Pyrenees rise behind a patchwork of family vineyards. Some parcels have been in the family for generations, with the oldest vines estimated by the domaine at more than 120 years. Carignan, Grenache and local white varieties grow on clay-limestone and schist soils.
The established vineyards have been certified organic since 2011, following conversion begun in 2007; newer parcels may still be in conversion. Much of the vineyard and harvest work is manual, fermentations use native yeasts, and some reds are made in restored concrete vats with sparing sulphur additions.
Domaine de Majas 2021 Côtes Catalanes Rouge
French Red
Bright blackberry and juicy cherry appear in the profile, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. The wine blends Carignan and Grenache from biodynamically farmed vineyards, including older vines reaching one hundred and twenty years. The estate's production was already Ecocert-certified organic by this vintage. The wine comes from Côtes Catalanes in Languedoc-Roussillon and contains thirteen percent alcohol.
Majas 2025 Blanc Cotes Catalanes Organic
French White
A youthful white blend with clear freshness and a mineral edge. Floral and fruity aromas lead into white peach and lemon zest, while lively acidity keeps the palate bright and focused through a clean finish. Easy to enjoy but neatly composed, it suits salads, grilled vegetables, light seafood or a simple plate of fresh cheese.
