AboutDomaine Bitouzet-Prieur
The hyphen in Bitouzet-Prieur joins two Burgundy families: the Bitouzet line of Volnay and the Prieur line of Meursault. François Bitouzet-Prieur, the sixth generation, joined the family domaine in 2005 and has led it since 2012. Its vineyards grow Pinot Noir in Volnay and Beaune, and Chardonnay in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.
François’s father, Vincent, stopped using herbicides in the mid-1990s, turning to mechanical soil cultivation and compost. François began organic trials in 2009 and extended organic farming across the estate in 2013. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Refined and quietly generous, with white flowers, grapefruit and peach skin over a subtle mineral line. The palate is smooth and harmonious, combining measured richness with fine acidity and a focused, very long finish. A gentle stony note keeps the texture composed. Serve cool rather than cold with scallops, roast poultry, butter-poached fish or creamy mushroom dishes.

Red cherry, crushed strawberry and rose petal appear in the bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy, fleshy red fruit and a rounded, malleable texture. The finish is sweet. Fruit comes from a single 1.25-hectare parcel. The wine is made from Pinot Noir; grapes are harvested by hand, fully destemmed and moved into vat by gravity after sorting.
