AboutDard et Ribo
René-Jean Dard and François Ribo began their estate in 1983 after meeting as teenagers at wine school in Beaune, starting with roughly a hectare from Dard’s family. They gradually added rented and purchased parcels, building an 8.5-hectare estate across seven Northern Rhône villages. Most of the vines are in Crozes-Hermitage, with smaller holdings in Saint-Joseph and Hermitage.
They farm organically without certification and often make the wine from each plot separately. Syrah supplies the reds, with Marsanne and Roussanne for the whites.
Dard et Ribo 2018 Crozes-Hermitage Rouge
Juicy and energetic, with dark berries, violet and cracked pepper carried by a fluid, finely structured palate. Whole-bunch Syrah and restrained extraction preserve aromatic lift, fresh acidity and supple tannins, while a stony mineral line brings precision to the finish. Serve slightly cool with grilled lamb, roast chicken, sausages or earthy mushroom dishes.
