Sprucio began with a bag of Sitka spruce tips carried from Prince Rupert to Burnaby by Wheelhouse brewer Craig Outhet. Wheelhouse had already brewed a spruce-tip pale ale; with Dageraad, it made a mixed-culture saison. Malted barley, wheat and oats formed the base, with the spruce tips bringing fruit and light resin notes and the fermentation adding gentle tartness.
