Curious Creatures released its first canned beer in August 2023, though its illustrated world had begun earlier. Brewer and co-founder Sebastian Peterson created Alfred, the travelling frog, for his final project in KPU’s brewing programme. Illustrator Tatiana Peterson developed Alfred’s adventures into the characters and stories that appear on the cans.
After beginning with contract brewing, the company moved into Fuggles Beer’s Richmond facility in April 2024. Tatiana develops each label in conversation with Sebastian about the beer, shaping the illustration around its story and the curve of the can.

Fresh British Columbia hops bring an unusual raspberry-jam aroma over a crisp, clean and dry Japanese lager base. The fruit impression is lifted rather than sweet, leaving the palate focused and highly refreshing. A collaboration with Flora Fermentation, it balances expressive fresh-hop character with disciplined lager structure. Serve well chilled with sushi, karaage, grilled salmon, tempura, yakitori or lightly seasoned vegetable dishes.
