Craigellachie was built in 1890 by a consortium led by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie, with production beginning the following year. It stands above the meeting of the Fiddich and Spey rivers; its Gaelic name means rocky hill.
Traditional worm-tub condensers cool the spirit through long copper coils, helping to give Craigellachie its weighty, savoury character. Its own bottlings are not chill-filtered and have no added caramel colour. Maturation uses European ex-sherry and American ex-bourbon casks.

Layered and assertive, with raisins, apples, banana and pineapple set against leather, mineral notes and a lightly savoury edge. The palate brings caramel, oatmeal and ripe stone fruit, while mint and clove provide freshness through the rich middle. Its texture is substantial without becoming heavy, and the mature character remains lively rather than overly woody. The finish is long and intense, lingering on dried fruit, cool spice and mineral depth.
