AboutContratto
Giuseppe Contratto founded the house in Canelli in 1867. Its hillside cellars beneath the town are home to bottle-fermented sparkling wines. A milestone came in 1919 with a vintage-dated sparkling wine, followed by vermouth and aperitif recipes in 1920.
Giorgio Rivetti and his family acquired Contratto in 2011 and restored its historic cellars. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay come from high vineyards around Bossolasco, between roughly 600 and 800 metres in the Alta Langa hills.
Contratto Vermouth Bianco
Italian Fortified
Citrus peel and white stone fruit lead an elegant aroma, with chamomile, hawthorn and alpine herbs adding detail. The palate is smooth and lightly honeyed, balancing gentle sweetness with fresh acidity and a fine bitter line. Coriander, marjoram, laurel and soft baking spice unfold gradually without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is clean, floral and delicately spiced. Serve chilled over ice with a lemon twist, topped with soda or in a lighter aperitivo cocktail.
Contratto Aperitif 1 L
Italian Liqueur
Vivid orange peel, orange blossom and rhubarb lead into citrus, ginger, white stone fruit and marzipan. The palate balances natural sweetness with a soft, measured gentian bitterness, finishing bright and gently herbal. Serve chilled over ice with soda and an orange slice, or use it to bring lift and complexity to a classic spritz.
