AboutColleStefano

The Marchionni family arrived in the Matelica valley in the 1960s and, after years of farm work, bought the small hillside hamlet called Colle Stefano in 1978. Fabio Marchionni returned with an oenology degree and bottled the estate’s first Verdicchio di Matelica in 1998. His approach to organic farming draws on his training and work at an organic estate in Germany.

ColleStefano sits above Castelraimondo at roughly 450 metres in the inland Valle Camertina. Grapes are harvested by hand; the vineyards receive organic matter and limited copper treatments, while the cellar uses gravity flow and restrained sulphur additions.

Collestefano 2018 Rosa di Elena Marche Rosato

Italian Rosé
$37.99
The colour resembles raspberry juice, and fresh red-berry aromas are present. The palate is mellow and vinous, with the crispness of a white wine and closing notes of geranium, red apple and aniseed. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon make up ninety percent of the blend, with other grapes forming the remainder. The fruit was hand harvested, softly pressed and macerated for six hours. Four months on lees took place in stainless steel. The vineyards were farmed organically.

ColleStefano 2024 Litrozzo Marche Bianco 1L

Italian White
$37.99
Pear, almond skin and warm cardamom frame a bright, lightly rustic bouquet. The palate is creamy and gently yeasty yet remains crisp, with green apple, unripe pineapple and savoury herbal detail. A clean mineral line and pleasantly bitter almond finish make it a natural match for antipasti, seafood, salads or young cheese.
