Clos Roussely
AboutClos Roussely
Clos Roussely is a four-generation family estate in Angé, beside the Cher in Touraine. Winemaker Vincent Roussely follows his grandfather Marcel at the nine-hectare property.
The estate is certified organic and biodynamic, with eight grape varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay, Pineau d’Aunis and Menu Pineau. The wines are made in cellars cut into the tuffeau limestone directly beneath the vineyard.
Clos Roussely 2023 L’Escale Sauvignon Blanc Touraine
Fresh flowers and citrus lead a lively, balanced palate where acidity meets rounded texture and clear fruit. Sauvignon Blanc comes from twenty-year-old vines on clay-limestone soils in Touraine. Harvesting combines hand and mechanical picking. Fermentation proceeds slowly with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing on fine lees. The vineyard is in conversion to organic farming, and the wine carries 12.5 percent alcohol.
