AboutCigliuti

Cigliuti’s roots are in the Serraboella hamlet of Neive, where the family farm once sold grapes and bulk wine to local customers. In 1964, Renato Cigliuti bottled the estate’s first 300 bottles of Barbaresco. Renato, Dina and their daughters Claudia and Silvia work together in the vineyards and cellar.

On Serraboella, Nebbiolo grows on southwest-facing limestone slopes, while the more clay-rich southeast slopes are planted chiefly to Barbera. The estate’s Barbaresco Serraboella is made entirely from Nebbiolo, fermented in steel and matured in Slavonian oak.

Cigliuti 2017 Barbaresco Serraboella

Italian Red
$129.99

Ripe cherry and raspberry open with crushed rose, anise, cedar and white pepper. The palate is savoury and layered, bringing plum, iron-rich earth and underbrush around a core of generous red fruit. Lively acidity and dusty tannins give the wine a dense, balanced frame, while orange zest and liquorice add lift. The finish is long, focused and quietly powerful.
