AboutDomaine de Chevalier
Domaine de Chevalier lies at the edge of a forest in Léognan; its history reaches back to the seventeenth-century Chivaley farm. Jean Ricard bought the property in 1865, and it entered the Graves classification in 1953 under Claude Ricard. The Bernard family purchased the property in 1983, entrusting Olivier Bernard with a long programme of investment across the vineyards and winery.
Roughly sixty hectares are planted to red varieties and seven to white. Vineyard work includes high-density planting and seasonal ground cover. A conversion to organic and biodynamic practices began in 2021.
Domaine de Chevalier 2005 Pessac-Léognan
Dark berry fruit, liquorice and a balsamic lift give this Pessac-Léognan an expressive nose, with a gravelly mineral note underneath. The palate combines a velvety texture with firm structure and plenty of freshness. Rich fruit carries through a long finish, where the savoury, mineral character brings definition to the wine’s generous depth.
