Château Margaux

Château Margaux’s estate history spans more than five centuries on the left bank of Bordeaux, with viticulture shaping the property over successive eras. The present neoclassical château was completed in the early nineteenth century and remains a defining part of the estate’s protected architectural heritage. Margaux was named a First Growth in the 1855 classification, a historic regulatory distinction rather than a contemporary tasting award.

André Mentzelopoulos acquired the property in 1977, and his daughter Corinne has continued the family’s ownership and long-term investment. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the red vineyard, while the estate also maintains white-grape plantings for Pavillon Blanc under a separate appellation framework. Its modern chapter combines the Mentzelopoulos family’s investment with the preservation of a First Growth vineyard and historic château.
