AboutChâteau Malescot Saint-Exupéry

The estate’s double name preserves two chapters of its history: Simon Malescot acquired the property in 1697, and Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry followed in 1827. Malescot Saint-Exupéry was ranked a Third Growth of Margaux in Bordeaux’s 1855 classification. Paul and Roger Zuger bought a diminished seven-hectare property in 1955, then rebuilt the vineyard and cellars; the family remains at the estate today.

Cabernet Sauvignon leads the roughly 28-hectare vineyard on deep Pyrenean gravel, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot also planted. Grapes are picked by hand into small crates and sorted before fermentation and barrel ageing.

Château Malescot St-Exupéry 2015 Margaux

French Wine
$179.99

Steeped plum, fig and blackberry open with lilac, oyster-shell minerality and finely integrated oak. The palate is rich and composed, its dark fruit framed by mocha, vanilla and a discreet savoury edge. Velvety tannins carry the wine with power but preserve Margaux’s floral refinement. The finish is long and harmonious, lingering on black fruit, violet, warm spice and mineral detail.
