AboutChâteau Las Collas
Pierre Puig began the family’s winegrowing story in 1934 with the purchase of Mas St-Luc at Passa, on the Roussillon plain. Puig acquired Las Collas in 1950, and production later moved north to the Thuir property under his grandson Jacques Bailbé in 1979.
For decades the family reserved selected Rivesaltes vintages in old concrete tanks, allowing successive generations to decide when they were ready to leave the cellar. Current vineyards lie in the Aspres around Thuir, with old Grenache rooted in clay-limestone ground below the Pyrenees.
Château Las Collas 1961 Rivesaltes 500 mL
Dark amber and deeply mature, with hazelnut, almond and candied citrus rising over warm roasted notes. The palate is rich and warming, carrying Grenache sweetness with savoury nut-skin complexity and a gently oxidative tone. Long, composed and distinctive, it is best served in a small pour alongside blue cheese, toasted nuts or dark chocolate.
