AboutChâteau Lafon-Rochet

The property’s history is documented from 1557, and it later took the Lafon-Rochet name as the estate passed through marriage and inheritance. Lafon-Rochet was classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855. The Tesseron family acquired the neglected property in 1960 and led its modern revival; Emmanuel and Jacky Lorenzetti became owners in 2021.

The vineyard occupies two Saint-Estèphe hillsides, combining deep gravel with clay and clay-limestone ground. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot lead the plantings, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Conversion to organic farming began in 2020.

Château Lafon-Rochet 2017 Saint-Estèphe

French Wine
$116.99
Cherry, licorice and lightly toasted notes open with a measured peppery lift. The palate is fleshy and smooth, framed by silky tannins and a clear line of tangy freshness. Ripe fruit and savoury detail remain balanced rather than heavy, with the texture becoming more polished through the middle. The finish is composed and persistent, returning to licorice while retaining freshness and gentle sweetness.
