AboutChâteau La Tour Carnet

Château La Tour Carnet’s medieval tower still stands, and its first recorded harvest dates to 1409. In the Bordeaux classification drawn up for the 1855 Exposition, La Tour Carnet entered the Fourth Growth tier. Bernard Magrez acquired the property in 2000, beginning a period of vineyard, cellar and architectural restoration.

Its vineyard draws on a mosaic of gravel, clay and limestone; Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon form the core, while small pockets are reserved for Petit Verdot and for Cabernet Franc. Picking is manual; the fruit is then sorted carefully and moved through the cellar by gravity, with parcels handled separately before blending.

Blackcurrant and blueberry lead with licorice, camphor and toast, followed by blackberry, raspberry coulis and ripe fig. The palate is medium to full-bodied, its generous fruit shaped by polished tannins, fresh acidity and clear definition. Graphite and dark berry detail carry the focused, impressively long finish.
