Château Haut-Brion
Château Haut-Brion
AboutChâteau Haut-Brion
Written references to the vineyard now associated with Haut-Brion reach back to 1521. Jean de Pontac developed the property in the sixteenth century and built the château that anchored its emergence as a named Bordeaux wine. Haut-Brion was included among the First Growths in the 1855 classification and is the only one situated in today’s Pessac-Léognan appellation.
Clarence Dillon purchased the estate in 1935, beginning the ownership chapter continued by his descendants and Domaine Clarence Dillon. Prince Robert of Luxembourg has chaired the family company since 2008.
Château Haut-Brion 2001 Pessac-Léognan
French Red
A soft, generous palate and finely textured tannins give this Pessac-Léognan its graceful shape. A hint of liquorice runs through a long, smooth finish, with oak kept in balance. The 2001 blends Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Try it with roast lamb, beef or a dish of woodland mushrooms.
La Clarté de Haut-Brion 2016 Pessac-Léognan Blanc
French White
White flowers, lemon and a hint of spice introduce this expressive white Bordeaux. The palate opens smoothly, then grows richer and more generous as the fruit unfolds. Sémillon leads the blend with Sauvignon Blanc, giving the wine a rounded feel balanced by lively freshness. A long, lightly peppery finish keeps the flavours in focus.
