Château de Sales
AboutChâteau de Sales
Château de Sales in Pomerol has remained in the same extended family since 1578. Ownership passed through women in the family, bringing successive generations of Sauvanelle, Desaigues, de Laage and Lambert descendants. In 2017, fourteen cousins took responsibility for the estate together and appointed Marine Treppoz to chair the family company.
The vineyard covers 47.6 hectares of the ninety-hectare property, with Merlot leading the planting on gravel and iron-rich sand. The soil is ploughed without chemical weedkiller, and the grapes are harvested by hand. The estate has held High Environmental Value certification since 2020.

Chocolate and cracked pepper lead the nose, followed by ripe red fruit and a discreet oak note. The palate opens with fresh energy, then settles into a structured, medium-bodied frame of fine tannins. Red cherry, coffee and dark chocolate add mature complexity, carrying the wine into a powerful, persistent and quietly seductive finish.
