AboutChâteau de Montfaucon

Château de Montfaucon rises above the Rhône from a site marked by an eleventh-century fortress. The de Pins family’s ancestors acquired the property in the eighteenth century, and Rodolphe de Pins returned in 1995 after winemaking experience in France and abroad. The estate’s vineyards lie on the Rhône’s right bank, opposite Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with Lirac at the heart of its range. One wine revives an 1829 family label and the blend of numerous grape varieties associated with Baron Eugène de Montfaucon.

Château de Montfaucon 2016 Vin de Monsieur Le Baron

French Red
$94.99

Plum skin and blackcurrant lead with dried flowers, rosemary and a cool mineral note. The palate is rich and rounded, with ripe dark fruit supported by fresh acidity and a solid savoury backbone. Coffee, hazelnut, smoke and restrained oak bring mature complexity to the long, composed finish.
