AboutChâteau de la Gardine

The Brunel family’s Rhône winegrowing history reaches back to 1670; Gaston Brunel bought Château de la Gardine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1945. Several generations of the family continue to work at the estate.

The vineyards combine limestone, sand, rounded pebbles and red clay, in a dry Mediterranean climate regularly swept by the mistral. Woodland and natural areas are retained around the vines. The estate’s curved bottle, introduced in 1964, was inspired by an old flask found during cellar work.

Château de la Gardine 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape

French Red
$81.99

Dark cherry and blackberry open with espresso, leather and a subtle oak note. The palate is rich and rounded, with concentrated fruit held by smooth, powerful tannins. Savoury and earthy undertones add depth without crowding the wine’s generous core, while the texture remains polished and composed. The finish is long and layered, leaving dark fruit, espresso, leather and a measured Rhône warmth.
