Château de La Chaize
Château de La Chaize
AboutChâteau de La Chaize
The château at La Chaize in Beaujolais was completed in 1676, with plans by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and gardens associated with André Le Nôtre. After nearly 350 years in the founding family, the estate was acquired in 2017 by Christophe Gruy; his nephew Boris is its managing director and winemaker.
Its vineyards span Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie and Morgon, and it also makes Beaujolais Blanc. Wine from each parcel is fermented and aged separately. The first certified-organic vintage was 2022.

French Red
Ripe red cherry, raspberry and black cherry meet violet, rose petal, anise and woodsy spice. The palate is sleek and lively, balancing generous fruit with silky tannins and fresh acidity before a long, lightly spiced finish. Serve slightly cool with roast chicken, charcuterie, pork or mushroom dishes.
