AboutChâteau de Coulaine

Château de Coulaine is a family Chinon estate with vines documented from at least the fifteenth century and a château built in 1470. The property entered the Denys de Bonnaventure family through marriage around 1900. Étienne and Pascale began renewing the vineyard in 1988; their son Jean and his wife Tatiana took over in 2017.

The organically farmed vineyards around Beaumont-en-Véron range from clay-limestone to sandy, silty-clay and gravelly ground. Cabernet Franc and Chenin are grown for red and white Chinon.

Château de Coulaine 2021 Chinon Bonnaventure

French Red
$43.99

Very ripe red fruit and spice lead into a round, ample palate. Cabernet Franc brings concentration without losing definition, while pleasant tannins give the wine a composed, gently structured shape. A saline note threads through the fruit and adds savoury contrast to the generous core. The finish remains full and balanced, carrying ripe red fruit, spice and that subtle saline edge with measured persistence.
