AboutChâteau Clos du Roy

Château Clos du Roy is a Fronsac estate within Vignobles Hermouet; its first château bottling appeared in 1970. Philippe Hermouet took charge of the family properties in 1987 and restored Clos du Roy between 1995 and 1997, renewing both vineyard and cellar.

The vines occupy Fronsac’s clay-limestone slopes and plateaux, with Merlot supported by both Cabernet varieties. Winemaking combines gentle pressing with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, followed by roughly a year in French oak.

Château Clos du Roy 2019 Fronsac

French Red
$46.99

Blackberry, mulberry and dark plum meet dried herbs, cocoa and a restrained touch of toast. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, with fine tannins bringing shape to juicy dark fruit and a subtle graphite note. Balanced rather than heavy, it closes with quiet savoury detail, gentle spice and a polished finish.
