AboutChampagne Marie Demets
André Brément planted his own vines at Gyé-sur-Seine in 1950 and established the family winery in 1965. Alain and Marie Demets took over in 1972, with the Marie Demets name introduced in 1986. Pierre joined in 2008 after apprenticeships in Burgundy, Champagne and New Zealand, and now makes the wines with Mathilde.
The vineyards cover just over ten hectares in five Côte des Bar villages. Pinot Noir is the main planting, alongside Chardonnay and one parcel of Pinot Blanc. Fruit from each parcel is pressed separately on the day of harvest, and some of the wine matures in 500-litre barrels.
Champagne Marie Demets Tradition Brut NV 1.5 L
Bright redcurrant and cherry lead with green and red apple, white flowers and a delicate chalky note. The palate is generous yet lively, its fine mousse carrying orchard fruit through a fresh, balanced centre. Vibrant acidity keeps the texture precise while subtle lees detail adds depth. The finish is clean and persistent, returning to apple, red fruit and chalky mineral lift.
