AboutChamisal Vineyards
Chamisal Vineyards planted its Edna Valley vineyard in 1973. The 82-acre estate lies just outside San Luis Obispo, five miles from the Pacific, with three distinct soil types and a focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Cool maritime conditions stretch the growing season, allowing flavour to develop while preserving freshness.
In 2008, Chamisal introduced an unoaked Chardonnay made in stainless steel. SIP certification followed for the vineyard in 2010 and the winery in 2016. Herbicides have been eliminated, cover crops are planted, and the winery recycles process water and uses solar power.
Chamisal Vineyards 2021 Pinot Noir San Luis Obispo Coast
Light ruby in colour, opening with bright cherry, raspberry and cinnamon. The palate is juicy and fresh, with light tannins and vibrant acidity shaping the red fruit. Mulberry, blackberry and earthy chaparral add depth, while plum, pepper spice and a savoury charcuterie note gather through the brisk, lively finish.
Chamisal 2021 San Luis Obispo County Chardonnay
Honeysuckle, green apple and lime zest meet citrus, white peach and a hint of salinity. The acidity is crisp, and the finish is long and vibrant. Chardonnay is sourced from vineyards influenced by the California coast and is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel. The wine is clean, bright and refreshing, with thirteen-point-five percent alcohol and a screw cap.
