AboutCarranco

Carranco began in 2018 as a partnership between Piedmont’s Borgogno and the Tornatore family of Etna. Its vineyards lie on Etna’s northern slope, around 500 metres above sea level, in soils of ash, volcanic sand and broken lava.

Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante are the main varieties, with some parcels still grown as traditional bush vines. For its Etna reds, concrete fermentation is followed by ageing in large oak casks; the whites ferment in steel and mature in temperature-controlled concrete.

Nerello Mascalese grows on the northern side of Etna in volcanic soils at about 500 metres. Vinification takes place in concrete, followed by maturation in large Slavonian-oak casks.
