AboutCantine Pellegrino

Notary and winegrower Paolo Pellegrino founded Cantine Pellegrino in Marsala in 1880. Josephine Despagne later took charge of the company; her father was a French oenologist from Sauternes. Fifth- and sixth-generation family members now help run the house.

The house’s work spans its historic Marsala cellars, four estates between Marsala and Trapani, and the island of Pantelleria. Vineyard studies guide the choice of indigenous and international grape varieties for the four estates. The winery uses solar power and recyclable materials, works to reduce water use, and includes organic wines in its range.
