AboutChâteau Cantenac Brown
Château Cantenac Brown took shape in 1806 under John Lewis Brown, a Bordeaux merchant of Scottish origin who established the estate in Margaux. Later in the nineteenth century, Armand Lalande expanded the vineyards and gave the property its distinctive Tudor-style château. Its standing was formalized as a Third Growth in the 1855 classification.
The Le Lous family acquired Cantenac Brown in 2019. The raw-earth winery design uses gravity flow and thick earthen walls intended to moderate temperature and humidity, reducing reliance on mechanical systems.

Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for sixty-one percent of the blend and Merlot for thirty-nine percent. The colour is deep and dense. Fresh red fruit appears with coffee, toasted almond and toast. The palate is fleshy, rich and tense. The wine has precise tannins and natural acidity. Ageing lasts sixteen months in French oak barrels, sixty percent new and forty percent one year old.

Ripe dark berries and plum open with graphite and a cool stony edge. The palate is plush and supple, bringing concentrated fruit into polished structure and well-integrated oak. Freshness gives the richness energy and keeps the texture poised rather than broad. The finish is intense and persistent, returning to dark fruit, mineral notes and fine, smoothly woven tannins.
