AboutCallejuela
After two decades working in local vineyards, Francisco Blanco Martínez established his small Sanlúcar cellar in 1980. His sons José and Francisco later created Callejuela, bringing grape growing, winemaking and bottling together in the family business.
Their Palomino vineyards lie on the chalky albariza soils of Sanlúcar and Jerez, including sites at Callejuela, Hornillo, Añina and Macharnudo. The range extends from unfortified white wines to Manzanilla aged beneath a veil of yeast and Amontillado shaped by time and exposure to air.
Callejuela Manzanilla en Rama
Completely unfiltered, this manzanilla is energetic and savoury, with garlic, scallion, aged sheep’s cheese, brine, mushroom, fresh tobacco, straw, earth and chalk. Palomino comes from the Macharnudo, Añina and Callejuela vineyards on albariza soils. The wine ferments in stainless steel, is fortified to fifteen percent and enters a solera system. It is drawn from the ninth criadera.
Callejuela 2019 La Choza Palomino de Flor
This unfortified Palomino comes from a four-hectare plot in Macharnudo at seventy-four metres elevation. The vines are listed as fifteen years old and grow on chalk, limestone, clay and sand. After pressing, the juice ferments at controlled temperature in stainless-steel and epoxy-lined tanks. Production is listed at roughly one hundred fifty cases, with alcohol between twelve and thirteen-and-a-half percent.
Callejuela NV La Casilla Amontillado Viejo
Vanilla, polished wood and beeswax appear with caramelized almonds, quince jelly and dried apricot. Seaweed, tobacco leaf and nutty notes add breadth. The palate is very dry and marked by acidity, with walnuts, hazelnuts and deep salinity alongside earthy notes, citrus, toffee and polished wood. The wine matured under flor for around seven years and then for at least twice as long oxidatively.
Callejuela Manzanilla Origen NV
Lemon peel, white grapefruit and lemon blossom lead a tight, bright profile. Salted almond and a generous wash of sea salt bring savoury depth, while a light herbal-anise note adds lift through the finish. The palate is focused and structural rather than heavy, with freshness carrying the mineral character cleanly. Serve well chilled with olives, almonds, oysters, fried fish or thinly sliced jamón.
Callejuela Blanco de Hornillos
A Palomino white from Sanlúcar, rooted in the area’s chalky albariza soils. Lemon, green apple and chamomile meet a distinctly saline, savoury finish that excels with shellfish.
Callejuela 2019 Las Mercedes Añina
Shining golden yellow, with green apple, pear skin and crystalline lemon peel carried by distinctly marine freshness. The palate is layered and savoury, combining hay, chalk and a quiet earthy note from flor with mouthwatering salinity. Complex without feeling heavy, it finishes lively and mineral, with the fruit held in a fine coastal frame.
