AboutCain Vineyard & Winery
Jerry and Joyce Cain founded Cain Vineyard & Winery in 1980 on Spring Mountain, with plans to grow the five classic Bordeaux grape varieties. The vineyard occupies a high bowl near the Napa–Sonoma county line, and the first harvest at the new winery followed in 1982. Cain makes Cabernet-led blends from different vineyard sources, allowing each wine its own character.
The 2020 Glass Fire destroyed most of the vines and all the winery buildings; replanting began later that year. The team is testing varieties and clones for the mountain site as it rebuilds the vineyard.
Cain Vineyard & Winery 2010 Cain Concept The Benchland
Cedar and smoky fig wood frame ripe plum and dark berry fruit, with a savoury undertone that keeps the profile composed. The palate is smooth and generous without feeling heavy, carried by resolving tannins and a measured freshness. Cabernet structure gives the wine its line, while the softer texture of the blend brings breadth and polish. The finish is elegant, mature and quietly persistent.
