AboutCaballito Cerrero

Alfonso Jiménez Rosales established Caballito Cerrero in 1950 after leaving Tequila Herradura. The Jiménez family continues to make its agave spirits at Santa Rita in Amatitán, Mexico.

In 2018, the family stopped using the tequila designation, choosing destilado de agave to preserve its regional growing and distilling traditions. The range includes both Blue Weber agave, known as Azul, and Chato, a type of Agave angustifolia. For its Azul and Chato blancos, the agave is cooked in stone ovens, crushed by rollers and fermented in the open air with natural yeasts before two distillations, first in stainless steel and then in copper.

Caballito Cerrero Azul 46 Reposado Agave Spirit

Mexican Tequila & Mezcal
$214.99

Cooked agave leads with earthy, vegetal depth, followed by warm spice, vanilla and a restrained layer of oak. The palate is creamy and concentrated, balancing mature barrel character with a brighter green edge. Cinnamon, black pepper and a faint nutty note add complexity without masking the agave. The finish is long, dry and lightly smoky. Serve neat to appreciate its savoury detail and structure.
