AboutBurrowing Owl

Jim and Midge Wyse began Burrowing Owl in 1993 after acquiring vineyard land south of Oliver. A winery licence followed in 1997, and a purpose-built cellar was ready for the 1998 harvest. The Wyse family remains closely involved, with the next generation carrying the estate’s work forward.

Its antelope-brush setting is managed with alternative pest controls, bluebird boxes, bat nurseries and practical safeguards for nesting birds and other wildlife. The winery also directs tasting fees toward owl conservation and has supported the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society for decades. Inside the hillside facility, gravity moves fruit and wine gently through the process, while underground temperature-controlled cellars provide space for fermentation and barrel maturation.
