AboutBoudreaux Cellars
Boudreaux Cellars began with Rob Newsom making a porch-fermented wine in 1998, after a backyard challenge from Leonetti founder Gary Figgins. The first commercial wines followed in 2001, carrying a name borrowed from Newsom’s longtime Cajun-folklore nickname. The family winery sits on the Icicle River outside Leavenworth, four miles off the power grid in Washington’s Cascade Mountains.
Its stone-faced winery houses a 200-barrel underground cellar, with stable natural temperatures and gravity transfer of the wines. Because the mountain site is not principally a vineyard, Newsom works with growers and seeks out mature Cabernet Sauvignon blocks across Washington. His daughter Keely Newsom returned to the family business in 2012 and now works alongside him.
