AboutBorgo Paglianetto
Borgo Paglianetto was formed in 2008 from the union of two long-established local wineries. Its focus is Verdicchio, with a smaller place for Marche reds. The estate occupies nearly 29 hectares in the Alta Valle dell’Esino, a closed valley whose unusual north-south orientation shapes Matelica’s distinctive microclimate.
The winery gained organic certification in 2013. The team limits intervention in vineyard and cellar, uses solar power at the winery and favours local suppliers and lighter bottles.
Borgo Paglianetto 2019 Ergon Verdicchio di Matelica DOC
Nutty, savoury aromas include green almond and chalk. The palate is energetic and mineral-driven, with brisk acidity, saline grip and a lingering stony finish. Verdicchio from the Pagliano vineyard is fermented with indigenous yeasts. The twenty-year-old site lies at an average altitude of 350 metres on clay-calcareous soils. The wine is organic, carries 13 percent alcohol and is classified as Verdicchio di Matelica DOC.
Borgo Paglianetto 2023 Terravignata Verdicchio di Matelica
Fresh and tangy, with lime blossom and ground ginger lifting flavours of McIntosh apple, wet stone and lemon peel. The palate is light-bodied and sleek, carrying vivid acidity into an almond-tinged finish. Serve well chilled with sushi, crudo, baked or poached fish, fried seafood, seafood pasta, risotto, pesto, savoury soups, shellfish or simply prepared vegetables.
