AboutBodegas Faustino

Bodegas Faustino traces its story to 1861, when Eleuterio Martínez Arzok began the family’s wine business in Rioja. The fourth generation of the Martínez Zabala family now leads the Oyón winery, with extensive barrel and bottle cellars for ageing its wines before release.

About 650 hectares of vineyards around Oyón and Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa supply the house, which is known especially for its long-aged Reserva and Gran Reserva wines. The familiar portrait on Faustino’s labels is Rembrandt’s painting of the merchant Nicolaes van Bambeeck, chosen by the family’s third generation and reinterpreted in the Art Collection range.

Faustino 2022 Rioja Art Collection Crianza

Spanish Red
$27.99
Ripe black fruit, vanilla and toasted oak lead, with violet and dried-fruit notes adding complexity. The palate is round and generous, its smooth texture balanced by well-integrated acidity and a savoury, nutty edge. A long, expressive finish carries fruit and toast together, making this a polished match for lamb, roast pork, mushrooms or aged Manchego.
